BASTROP, TEXAS | LAKE BASTROP
Commissioned to design and replace an existing, heavily used Texas Parks restroom building, GSC Architects designed and administered construction within a 9.5 month period. The site is the habitat of an endangered species Houston Toad, thus limiting the construction period to occur outside the species breeding window of January – April. The existing restroom building was demolished and GSC designed the new restroom using the existing slab, thus utilizing existing parking and pedestrian walkways. The restroom takes advantage of breezes through a dogtrot design, with outdoor rinse areas. Sturdy Ipe outdoor benches allow park users beautiful Lake Bastrop views.
