AUSTIN TX | 10,800 SF
GSC Architects and the City of Austin have created a new 10,800 SF public facility which overlooks Lake Austin from the north shore. We designed a clubhouse on the second floor of the facility which hosts the Austin Rowing Club and other public events. The facility has an expansive public outdoor viewing deck that highlights the focal point of the overall design, an uninterrupted view of Lake Austin. The roof of the boathouse mimics the inside hull of a boat, an arching wood and steel structure that opens up the south facade of the building to the lake. GSC designed the facility using sustainable practices, including the use of local Texas stone, composite decking material, the inclusion of public showers and restrooms, and the use of natural lighting throughout the design.
